Kokan Darshan - Ratnagiri District

Ratnagiri is a port town in Maharashtra, western India. Overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnadurg Fort has the Bhagwati temple and a lighthouse. Northeast, a fish museum and aquarium includes turtles and a whale skeleton. Thibaw Palace was the residence of the exiled king of Burma. North of the city, Ganpatipule Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh. Northeast, Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary is a forested area sheltering tigers.

Ganpatipule is a town on the Konkan Coast of western India. It’s known for its beaches, such as Ganpatipule Beach and nearby Aare Ware Beach. On Ganpatipule Beach, the centuries-old Swayambhu Ganpati Temple is a pilgrimage site and houses a large orange statue of Ganesh. Prachin Konkan is an open-air museum with models depicting traditional Konkan life. Jaigad Fort and a British-built lighthouse lie to the north.

Marleshwar Temple, the Temple of Lord Shiva, is located in the lap of the cascading waters of the Dhareshwar waterfall in Marleshwar, Maharashtra, India. It is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Chiplun and is built in a cave. If you are up for some physical effort, it requires climbing 520 steps to reach the sacred shrine. The climb is accompanied with beautiful scenery around. The lush green River Bav Valley, the massive mountains and the view of the ghats are sure to mesmerize you with its simplicity and beauty.

Kokan Darshan - Sindhudurg District

It is a naval fort in the Arabian sea, just off the coast of Malvan in Konkan region of Maharashtra. This fort was built in 1667 & named as Sindhudurg by Shivaji Maharaj. Sindhudurg literally means sea fort (Sindhu=sea; Durg=fort). It is an outstanding example of ancient Indian architecture having impressing features.

Vivaydurg fort is among India’s strongest marine forts. It is the oldest fort on the coast of Sindhudurg. The fort was very difficult to capture due to the 40 km shallow creek that acted as a natural barrier to ships and protected the fort. Maratha warships used to be anchored in this creek. So that enemy could not see them from the deep sea.

Malvan is a fishing port town in Konkan region of Maharashtra. The backwaters in Malvan is an ideal site for water sports and today Malvan is the most sought after destination for water sports in Maharashtra.

Devgad Fort is situated at the confluence of Devgad Creek and Arabian Sea. Placed strategically on a narrow strip of land jutting into the Arabian Sea, Devgad Fort was constructed by Kanhoji Angre, the brave warrior of Konkan coast, in 1705 AD on a highland of the sea port of Devgad. It was used as a surveillance center. It was attacked by the British Naval Battalion in charge of Commander Walter Brown.

Tarkarli is a village in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. On the shores of the Arabian Sea, it’s known for the white sands and clear waters of Tarkarli Beach, a popular spot for water sports.

Vengurla is a small town, having natural beauty, good beaches, as well as a rich culture and heritage. The town is surrounded by a semicircular range of hills with a lush green foliage (mainly cashew, mango, coconut plantations interspersed with all kinds of berry trees).
